Preserving history through modern design was at the heart of QGS’s work on the Corpus Christi College Special Collections Library in Oxford. Completed in 2022, the project formed part of the College’s ongoing investment in preserving its architectural heritage while improving facilities for students, researchers, and visitors.

Working alongside Kingerlee Ltd, QGS delivered the façade works for this unique development, designed to house and protect the College’s valuable archive and manuscript collections. The project required a careful balance between conservation and innovation, ensuring that new elements respected the historic setting while delivering the environmental control necessary for sensitive materials.

QGS supplied and installed Schüco AWS 90.SI Windows, selected for their outstanding thermal performance, durability, and refined appearance. The system provided the precision and energy efficiency needed to maintain the library’s strict internal climate standards while blending seamlessly with the building’s architectural character.

Integrating contemporary glazing within a heritage context required detailed coordination and craftsmanship. QGS worked closely with the project team to ensure that each component was installed with accuracy and care, achieving a result that enhances both performance and aesthetics.

The completed library now provides a modern, controlled environment for the preservation of centuries-old collections, combining functionality with architectural respect.
